Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Farrah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Fortin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Farrah might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Work In Progress. Joe Farrah has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Farrah! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Fortin! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fortin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Farrah moves into the clinch. Farrah blocking some punches.
Farrah lands an elbow just above Fortin 's eye. Farrah with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Farrah misses with a knee strike.
Farrah scores with a shot to the side of Fortin's head. Farrah is fighting off a takedown attempt but Fortin is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Farrah to the mat. Farrah regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Fortin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Farrah keeping full guard, as Fortin tries to pass. Farrah wants to improve his position but instead Fortin has moved into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fortin is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Farrah wants to improve his position but Fortin is controlling well.
Fortin not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Fortin trying to mount his opponent but Farrah defends it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Fortin controlling the action here. Farrah is trying to control but Fortin passes into side control!
Farrah really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Fortin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Farrah knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Farrah being controlled for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fortin works to advance to full mount. Farrah defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Farrah tries to reverse the position but Fortin maintains control. Fortin controlling the position easily from mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Fortin moves to take his opponent's back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Fortin dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Fortin closes the distance but Farrah moves to the side and Farrah counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Farrah scores with the left hand. Fortin knows he should have avoided that one. Farrah pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Farrah fails with a takedown attempt. Fortin tries to clinch but Farrah moves away and Farrah counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Farrah has clasped his hands together around Fortin's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Farrah will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Farrah tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fortin is trying to control Farrah's posture but Farrah avoids it. Fortin is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fortin is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Farrah is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are battling for position here. Fortin manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Fortin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Farrah's guard. Farrah avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Fortin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Farrah swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Farrah bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fortin's guard. Farrah stopping the sweep attempt from Fortin. Farrah looking to pass the guard. Farrah wants to get up but he can't break Fortin's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Fortin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Farrah trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Fortin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Farrah gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Fortin keeping moving, preventing Farrah from controlling successfully. Fortin keeping full guard, as Farrah tries to pass.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Fortin wants to clinch and Farrah counters with a two punch combo. Farrah will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Farrah throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Farrah tries to land a front kick but Fortin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Farrah lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Farrah rushes Fortin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Farrah tries to pull guard but Fortin holds him up against the cage and eventually Farrah drops back down to his feet.
Farrah manages to break the clinch.
Fortin is looking to take this fight into the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Farrah dominated that second round. That's time! Farrah's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Farrah clinches up against the cage. Fortin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Farrah just stands there and leans against the cage. A head punch on the inside from Fortin fails to land. Farrah is looking to control Fortin's arms but Fortin gets an underhook and turns him. Now Farrah has his back to the cage. Come on Farrah - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Farrah decides to pull guard. Fortin passes into half guard. Fortin passes the guard and advances to mount! Fortin controlling the pace for now. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Let's hope that Fortin has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Fortin goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Farrah is on top in guard.
Farrah looking to pass the guard. Fortin is looking for a triangle here but Farrah uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fortin is looking to reverse the position. Farrah tries to get to his feet but Fortin is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Farrah in his guard. Farrah has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Fortin looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Fortin lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Farrah! Fortin sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Ryan Fortin. I think Fortin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
