Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matheus Emelianenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Martelli! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emelianenko shoots in but Martelli avoids the takedown attempt easily. Emelianenko gets the takedown into side control. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Emelianenko is trying to get an arm triangle but Martelli is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Martelli struggling a bit here. Emelianenko working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Emelianenko tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Emelianenko has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Emelianenko looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Emelianenko goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Martelli rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Emelianenko's guard! Nice work there by Martelli! Emelianenko might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martelli stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Emelianenko swivels though and keeps the full guard. Emelianenko keeping moving, preventing Martelli from controlling successfully. Martelli looking to sit in guard and control but Emelianenko gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Emelianenko advances to half guard. Emelianenko is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Emelianenko seems to be working for a kimura but Martelli defends the submission attempt. Martelli tries to roll over but Emelianenko keeps him under control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Martelli wants to control but Emelianenko is keeping busy and won't allow it. Martelli slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Emelianenko drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Martelli dives on top into guard. Martelli loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Martelli looking to sit in guard and control but Emelianenko gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Emelianenko won't allow Martelli to sweep him here. Martelli working a defensive guard here.
Emelianenko thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Emelianenko drops back looking for a leg! Martelli is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Martelli manages to kick Emelianenko off! Emelianenko jumps back into Martelli's guard. Martelli manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Emelianenko manages to get himself to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Martelli throws a big elbow that misses. Martelli stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Emelianenko swivels though and keeps the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Martelli misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Emelianenko throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Martelli was covering up waiting for the punch and Emelianenko finishes the takedown easily into guard. Martelli trying to control the position.
Emelianenko drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Martelli manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Emelianenko has Martelli in his guard. Martelli wants to control from the top but Emelianenko keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Martelli wants to stand but Emelianenko has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Gabriel Martelli hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Emelianenko fails with a takedown attempt. Emelianenko throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Martelli's waist but Martelli gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Emelianenko off to one side. Martelli fails to land the takedown. Emelianenko shoots in but Martelli avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matheus Emelianenko. That's going to take a lot out of him. Martelli fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko slaps away a takedown attempt from Martelli, before circling back to the center of the mat. Emelianenko looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Emelianenko is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Emelianenko drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Martelli manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Emelianenko has Martelli in his guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Martelli is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Martelli wanted to stand there but Emelianenko had control of the position. Martelli is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Gabriel Martelli. Emelianenko scores a takedown into full mount! Martelli wants to hold on but Emelianenko pushes him away. Emelianenko jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Martelli manages to avoid the submission attempt. Emelianenko tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Emelianenko is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Martelli is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matheus Emelianenko dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Emelianenko stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Emelianenko wants it to stay on the feet. Nice sprawl there from Emelianenko as Martelli shoots in. Martelli has closed the distance and engaged Emelianenko in a clinch.
Martelli jumps guard but Emelianenko stands there with Martelli around his waist. Martelli gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Matheus Emelianenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gabriel Martelli. Martelli tries to pull guard but Emelianenko forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Emelianenko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Martelli shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Emelianenko pinned against the cage. Emelianenko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Emelianenko fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Martelli sprawls well initially but Emelianenko persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Martelli wants to control but Emelianenko is keeping busy and won't allow it. Martelli takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Emelianenko is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Martelli is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Martelli screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Emelianenko! Nice submission victory there!
