Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matheus Liddell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, DeeJay Dickson! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Emerson Jorge and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dickson scores with a body shot.
Liddell wants to clinch but Dickson slips to the side and Dickson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Liddell moves to clinch but Dickson breaks away and Dickson counters with a takedown into side control. Dickson working the head with strikes. Dickson lands an elbow. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dickson lands a few punches from side control. Liddell tries to escape but Dickson is in control. Liddell on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Liddell tries to get out of the position. Dickson stands up and we're back to a striking position. Dickson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Liddell.
Liddell moves to clinch but Dickson breaks away and Dickson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Dickson clinches with his opponent.
Liddell throws a knee to the head but misses.
Liddell creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Dickson working hard to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Liddell keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Dickson's efforts to push away. Dickson is trying to break free. Dickson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Liddell closes the distance but Dickson moves to the side and Dickson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Liddell looks to clinch enabling Dickson to counter with a crisp jab. Dickson works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Matheus Liddell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Liddell tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Dickson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Liddell pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Liddell tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Dickson breaks the clinch.
Liddell tries to clinch and Dickson counters with a three punch combo that has Liddell backing up. Liddell nods at Dickson to acknowledge the strikes. Dickson digs a good body shot into Liddell's ribs. Liddell is breathing heavily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dickson lands a nice looking body shot.
Dickson shoots in and bounces Liddell off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Liddell being controlled here, momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dickson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Dickson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Liddell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dickson on the ground. Dickson works a leg free and moves into half guard. Dickson seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Liddell is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
