Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Maximilien De Robespierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dom Baker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dom Baker will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Maximilien De Robespierre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dom Baker!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baker drives through and clinches with De Robespierre against the cage.
Baker lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Baker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
De Robespierre shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Baker pinned against the cage. Baker gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

De Robespierre throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Baker was covering up waiting for the punch and De Robespierre finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Baker wants to stand but De Robespierre is controlling the position.
De Robespierre wants to control from the top but Baker keeps moving.
Baker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with De Robespierre. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Baker is looking to stand up but De Robespierre isn't so interested in that idea.
De Robespierre wants to control from the top but Baker keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Maximilien De Robespierre wasn't doing enough on the ground.
De Robespierre shoots in but Baker avoids the takedown attempt easily.
De Robespierre pulls out of a head kick attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Baker ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

De Robespierre shoots in and gets a takedown into Baker's guard.
Baker utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Baker can do anything to dispel that myth.
Baker wants to stand but De Robespierre is controlling the position.
Baker keeping full guard, as De Robespierre tries to pass.
Baker is looking to stand up but De Robespierre isn't so interested in that idea.
Baker is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Baker circles away from the clinch attempt
and Baker counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

De Robespierre is trying to control. Baker wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
De Robespierre stops Baker from getting back to his feet.

De Robespierre is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Baker has managed to free his arm - good work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Baker is staying active underneath De Robespierre, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Baker throws a sloppy head kick and De Robespierre moves out of range easily.

Baker escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
De Robespierre checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
De Robespierre tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Baker paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Maximilien De Robespierre is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Baker looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Baker throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
De Robespierre doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Baker counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

De Robespierre tries to close the distance and clinch up but Baker swats him away and circles back towards the center.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

De Robespierre closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Baker did well to prevent De Robespierre getting side control.

De Robespierre can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Baker is looking to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Maximilien De Robespierre will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Baker moves in looking to clinch but De Robespierre pushes him off.
De Robespierre shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Baker sprawls well. Baker wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. De Robespierre gets slowly back to his feet.
De Robespierre swats away the attempt to clinch by Baker.
Baker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but De Robespierre paws at him with a jab and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
De Robespierre shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dom Baker seems to be getting the better of the standup.

De Robespierre is trying to force a seperation but Baker has the dominant position.
De Robespierre tries to pull guard but Baker forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
De Robespierre tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
De Robespierre fails to pull the fight into his guard.
De Robespierre tries to circle away but Baker has him pinned against the cage.

Baker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A looping hook to the body misses from Baker. De Robespierre does a little dance to reset his feet.

Baker gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows De Robespierre to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
De Robespierre trying to control but Baker is working from the bottom.

De Robespierre postures up in Baker's guard and throws a big left but Baker blocks it.
Baker wants to get back to his feet but De Robespierre passes into half guard.

De Robespierre is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
De Robespierre seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Dom Baker has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Maximilien De Robespierre is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
De Robespierre is really struggling to control Baker but he's trying to hold on to the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Maximilien De Robespierre.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for De Robespierre, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
