Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Duk Dong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shamil Basaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dong's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Thompson Twins - If You Were Here. Duk Dong has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Duk Dong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shamil Basaev! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Columbo Gatti and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A shot to the liver by Basaev. Beautiful body shot. Basaev rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Dong counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Basaev's guard now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dong is looking to work some ground and pound but Basaev has wrist control. Dong throwing strikes but missing. Dong controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Dong trying to control but Basaev is working from the bottom. Dong throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Dong throws a big elbow that misses. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Basaev avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dong lands a couple of digs. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dong wants to control from the top but Basaev keeps moving. Dong stopping the sweep attempt from Basaev. Basaev is trying to control the position but Dong postures up. Dong drops back looking for a leg! Basaev is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Basaev manages to kick Dong off! Dong jumps back into Basaev's guard. Basaev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dong. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Dong is looking to work some ground and pound but Basaev has wrist control. Dong has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Basaev preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Dong postures up in Basaev's guard and throws a big left but Basaev blocks it. Dong stands up over Basaev, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Dong throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Dong throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Basaev works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Basaev tries to land a sweep but no joy. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dong accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Dong working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Dong working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Basaev's head. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dong not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Dong working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Basaev has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Dong wants to pass the guard but Basaev is keeping the position. Basaev trying to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Shamil Basaev was stalling too much, according to the referee. Basaev throws an off balance right hand
and Dong counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dong. Basaev preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Dong throwing strikes but missing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dong with a flurry of punches that miss. Dong really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Dong working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. OK we're going to have a standup here. Shamil Basaev hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. An inside leg kick from Basaev misses. Shamil Basaev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A shot to the body from Basaev misses and Dong counters with a single leg into guard. Basaev didn't expect that. Dong with a nice head shot there. Dong wants to control from the top but Basaev keeps moving. Basaev is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Dong postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dong drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Basaev dives on top into guard. Dong pulls Basaev in close to his closed guard and prevents Basaev from doing any damage or advancing position. Dong looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
We're going to have a standup here because Duk Dong wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Basaev throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dong. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

so Dong counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Dong is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Basaev wants to stand but Dong is controlling the position. Dong trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Basaev wants to sweep here but Dong controlling him for the moment. Basaev trying to keep a closed guard but Dong is proving a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dong is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Dong in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Basaev keeping moving, preventing Dong from controlling successfully.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Basaev swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Basaev misses with a body shot
and Dong counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Basaev is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Dong scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dong is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Dong slows the pace down in half guard. Dong is nestled in close to Basaev, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dong thows a huge punch but Basaev dodges it nicely.
Dong thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Basaev has hold of Dong's hands but Dong slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Dong seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Basaev is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Duk Dong! Duk Dong looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'The Donger need food!'.
