Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jon Jordan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Red Arcinas! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Arcinas enables Jordan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Arcinas manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Jordan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jordan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Jordan throws a big right hand that misses. Arcinas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Jordan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Jordan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jon Jordan. Jordan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Arcinas's guard. Jordan stands up over Arcinas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Jordanis looking to pass into half guard but Arcinas pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Arcinas is in guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jordan is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jordan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jordan has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Arcinas preventing the sweep. Jordan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Arcinas escapes and throws Jordan's legs to the side, diving into side control! Jordan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Arcinas has hold of Jordan's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Jordan seems comfortable defending it but Arcinas has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Jordan is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Jordan is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Arcinas couldn't care less - he's delighted!
