Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Scott King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Curran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bryan Curran!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Curran!

King has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
King has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

King fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


King fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

King lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Curran circles away quickly and effectively.
Curran shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as King sprawls well. King wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Curran gets slowly back to his feet.

Scott King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bryan Curran.
Curran is breathing heavily.

Curran is looking to clinch.

King scores with a takedown into Curran's guard.
King working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
King sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Curran's guard.
King seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
King takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
King seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Scott King overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

King looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
King prevents Curran from standing back up.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
King looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

King looking to secure an arm triangle but Curran defends it well.
Curran in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
King lands a big shot there that rocks Curran but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

King's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

King is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Curran can do to turn this around?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

King has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Curran's face.

King is working for a guillotine from mount but Curran frees his head quite easily.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

King throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Curran was covering up waiting for the punch and King finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Curran is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
King content to stall in guard here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as King accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Curran takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
King is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Scott King just wasn't active enough.

Curran wants to clinch up but King keeps it at a distance.

Curran has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but King can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

King drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and King jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
King stands and throws Curran's legs to the side, diving into side control.
King is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Curran's shoulder. That is not cool.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Curran takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Curran tries to bench press King off him but King keeps the position.
Curran is working to avoid the ground and pound but King connects with a decent elbow.

This has been an exciting period of action!
King lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Curran down.
Curran tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but King presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
King tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Curran takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Scott King is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well King has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
