Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Robson Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Dukakis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Mike Dukakis enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robson Castro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Dukakis!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, John Roberts and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dukakis shoots in and bounces Castro off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Dukakis stays in close to Castro's body and controls the position.
Castro wants to sweep but no luck.
Dukakis not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Dukakis gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Dukakis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Castro throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Dukakis.
Dukakis tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Robson Castro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Dukakis counters with a nice double leg into side control. Castro won't be happy with that.

Dukakis is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Castro's shoulder. That is not cool.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Dukakis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Castro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Castro has his foot on Dukakis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dukakis works his way back into a safe position though.

Castro is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dukakis defends well.

Dukakis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Castro has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dukakis has managed to get both his arms back between Castro's legs - danger averted.
Dukakis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dukakis is keen to just control but Castro is a slippery customer.
Dukakis is thwarting Castro's attempts to control the position.

Dukakis frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Dukakis moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Castro has worked his arm free - good work by Castro!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

A close round but Mike Dukakis will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Castro keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Castro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dukakis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dukakis passes Castro's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Dukakis uses his free foot to push down on Castro's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Castro.
Dukakis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Castro is looking to escape.
Castro tries to lock up and control but Dukakis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Castro sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Castro wants to control but Dukakis is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Dukakis is stalling here. Castro is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Dukakis seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Castro has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dukakis can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
