Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Armando Wriedt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michael Louis! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Louis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wriedt circles away quickly and effectively. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wriedt is defended easily by Louis. Louis works over Wriedt's head and body with a nice combination. Wriedt looks to clinch and Louis counters with a stiff right hand. Louis throws a right hand that Wriedt ducks under and follows up with a left that Wriedt also avoids with ease. Danga de danga de dang - Louis scores with a four punch combination! Wriedt avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Louis stuffs the takedown attempt from Wriedt. Wriedt gets slowly back to his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wriedt takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Louis misses with a few strikes there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Louis scores with a hook to the body. Wriedt takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Wriedt shoots in and gets a takedown into Louis's guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Wriedt trying to control but Louis is working from the bottom. Wriedt stops Louis from standing up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Louis is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Wriedt passes easily into side control. Nice work. Louis wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Louis is not content to let Wriedt control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wriedt is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Louis looks calm but he's in trouble here. Wriedt gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Louis is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Wriedt lets go of the hold and Louis can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Armando Wriedt! Armando Wriedt seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
