Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brett Appley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Durst (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Appley comes to the cage accompanied by Headlines. Durst has chosen Hot Dog as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fred Durst has the eye of the tiger tonight.

1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fred Durst! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Appley closes this distance looking for a takedown but Durst circles away. A left and a right from Appley both land. Nice combination. No luck with that takedown attempt from Appley. Appley misses with a hook. Appley throws out a loose jab but Durst uses good head movement to avoid it. Appley throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A slow jab from Appley misses its intended target. Appley shoots in for a double leg but Durst sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brett Appley. That's going to take a lot out of him. A momentary lapse in concentration from Durst enables Appley to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Durst manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Appley thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Appley lands a few punches from side control. Durst is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Appley asserts his dominance and retains side control. Durst stops Appley from passing to mount. Appley throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Durst wants to get back to his feet but Appley drags him back down. The ref stands the fighters back up. Brett Appley wasn't doing enough on the ground. Appley moves in looking to clinch but Durst pushes him off. Durst throws a big shot that misses. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Durst throws a solid leg kick but Appley takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Durst. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Durst can do anything to dispel that myth. Appley throwing strikes from guard but Durst blocks nicely. Durst is wriggling around but Appley manages to pass to half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Appley in particular looking to stall. Appley scoring with strikes to the body and head. Appley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Brett Appley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Appley swings around for an armbar but Durst sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Appley's guard. Appley striking off his back but it's not causing Durst any problems. Appley is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Appley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Durst can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Durst postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Durst keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Appley's head. Appley preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Durst is sitting in close to Appley's body. Appley has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Durst is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Durst is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Appley.
