Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ortiz comes to the cage accompanied by Can't Be Touched by Roy Jones Jr.. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricky Ortiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Jones! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Lou da Vinci and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortiz tries to close the distance and clinch but Jones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ortiz throws a one two combo.
It looks like James Jones has been cut. Ortiz is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.
Jones avoids the head kick by Ortiz.
Ortiz keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ortiz tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range. Ortiz shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Jones circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ortiz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jones but Jones pushes him off and we're back to square one. Jones thumps Ortiz with a low kick. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ortiz closes the distance but Jones moves to the side and Jones counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Ortiz looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The fighters are battling for position here. Ortiz manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Ortiz working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jones. Jones throws a big elbow that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortiz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jones wants to control from the top but Ortiz keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones distracts Ortiz with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Ortiz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jones throws a strike but Ortiz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Ortiz scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Ortiz throwing strikes from guard but Jones blocks nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ortiz stops Jones from standing up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ortiz connects with a couple of short punches. Ortiz wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Ortiz won't allow Jones to get back to his feet. Jones keeping moving, preventing Ortiz from controlling successfully. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ricky Ortiz wasn't doing enough on the ground. Ortiz looks to clinch and Jones counters with a single leg into guard. Ortiz didn't expect that. Jones avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jones postures up and lands a big shot to Ortiz's brow. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Jones connects with a couple of short punches. Ortiz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him. Jones scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Ortiz looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ortiz is keeping the position for now. Ortiz wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones looking to sit in guard and control but Ortiz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ortiz is controlling him. Ortiz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ortiz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Jones wants to stand up but Ortiz is controlling him. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Ortiz has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jones is proving hard to escape from. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ricky Ortiz dominated that round. The cut man is working on James Jones's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Jones lands with a cross. Ortiz tries to clinch and Jones counters with a nice double leg into guard. Ortiz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jones landing some decent shots from guard. Ortiz wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it. Jones stands up over Ortiz, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Jones slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ortiz keeps working. Jones in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Ortiz is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jones thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ortiz's head. Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ortiz keeps working. Jones landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones wants to take a breather but Ortiz is having none of it. Jones not landing any meaningful shots this time. Ortiz keeping control of the position. Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ortiz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ortiz tries to kick Jones off but Jones keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Jones wants to pass to mount but Ortiz is defending the position. Jones works his foot free and advances to mount. Jones putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Jones raining down hammerfists from mount. Jones looking to finish Ortiz with some ground and pound. This is bad for Ortiz! Jones landing shots from mount. Jones is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ortiz can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ortiz working to try and regain half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones raining down hammerfists from mount. Jones looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Jones swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Ortiz is now in Jones's guard. A big mistake from Jones there, giving up the dominant position! Ortiz looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. James Jones has got the better of the ground game so far. Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Ortiz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ortiz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Jones content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Ortiz has locked up a guillotine! Ortiz's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Jones is holding on here and Ortiz must be using up a lot of energy. Jones has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Ortiz gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
