The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes misses with a takedown attempt
and Paulo counters with a takedown into side control.
Gomes is looking for a sweep.

Paulo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gomes, who protects the arm well.

Paulo slaps away a takedown attempt from Gomes, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Gomes closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Paulo did well to prevent Gomes getting side control.

Barroso Gomes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcos Paulo.

Gomes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Paulo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gomes shoots in and bounces Paulo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Gomes is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Paulo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Paulo has escaped and now he's on top!

Gomes is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Paulo is aware though and is defending well.
Gomes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Paulo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Paulo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Gomes wants to get back to his feet but Paulo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Paulo drops back looking for a leg! Gomes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gomes manages to kick Paulo off! Paulo jumps back into Gomes's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paulo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gomes swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that's the end of the fight!
Barroso Gomes showed his dominance in that final round.
