Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cage Nichols (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Pickett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brad Pickett has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cage Nichols!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brad Pickett!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nichols has a takedown stuffed.
Pickett keeps the fight on the outside.
Nichols ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Nichols shoots in for a takedown but Pickett shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Nichols gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Nichols looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Pickett moves out of range of the leg kick from Nichols.
Nichols tries to clinch up but Pickett circles away and keeps his distance.
Nichols tries for a takedown but Pickett sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Cage Nichols seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Pickett, as that shot connected.
A jab from Pickett finds it's way through Nichols's defenses.
Nichols throws a right and a left that Pickett avoids nicely.
Nichols uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pickett.
Nichols shoots for a double leg takedown but Pickett sprawls well. He's pushed Nichols's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nichols throws a body punch but Pickett moves out of range.
Nichols is looking to clinch.
Pickett fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Nichols on the side of the head.
Pickett scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Nichols doesn't seem bothered though.
Nichols throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pickett's waist but Pickett gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nichols off to one side.
Nichols tries to clinch up.
Nichols goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Pickett misses with a hook.
Nichols fails with a takedown attempt.
Nichols shoots in but no luck this time.
Nichols doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Pickett counters with a stiff right hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pickett misses with an uppercut. Nichols saw that one coming.
Pickett throws a jab but it's blocked by Nichols.

and Nichols counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Nichols.

Nichols throws a big right hand that misses.
Nichols trying to control but Pickett is working from the bottom.
Nichols is looking to stand up but Pickett won't let him.
Pickett wants to hit a switch here but Nichols passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Pickett there!
Nichols lands a big shot there that rocks Pickett but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Nichols cracks Pickett with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nichols thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Nichols scoring with strikes but Pickett is staying in there.
Nichols is landing with some decent strikes but Pickett is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pickett can't escape the position.
Pickett really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nichols. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Nichols cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Nichols wants to control the pace but Pickett is squirming around nicely.
Nichols thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Pickett is wriggling around trying to escape.
Nichols takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's seven minutes gone in the round.
That's eight minutes gone in the round.
Cage Nichols has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Nichols tries to clinch there but Pickett circles away.
Nichols shoots for a double leg takedown but Pickett sprawls well. He's pushed Nichols's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Pickett throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pickett lands a jab.
Pickett loads up on a big right hand but Nichols slips the punch.
Pickett throws a hook but Nichols avoids it easily.
Nichols feints a jab promting Pickett to slip. Nichols then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Pickett slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Nichols rushes Pickett and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Nichols goes for a takedown attempt but Pickett pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Nichols closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pickett quickly recovers to half guard.
Pickett is rocked!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nichols connects with a nice short shot to Pickett's temple.
Pickett is still in real trouble! Can Nichols finish him?
Pickett wants to get back to his feet.
Nichols looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Nichols is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pickett sees it coming and defends easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nichols decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
A punch combination from Nichols misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pickett finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Nichols's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Pickett falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 9:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cage Nichols!
