Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Barney Rubble (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rubble comes to the ring accompanied by Rage Against The Machine - No Shelter. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Barney Rubble!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Franklin!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rubble stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rubble wants it to stay on the feet.
A good leg kick by Rubble.

Rubble closes the distance and clinches.
Rubble connects with a nasty looking knee right to Franklin's face.

Rubble breaks the clinch.
Franklin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rubble sprawls well. Rubble wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Franklin gets slowly back to his feet.

and Rubble counters with a nice body kick.
Barney Rubble has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Franklin.

A slapping leg kick lands for Rubble.
Franklin looks for a takedown but Rubble sprawls well.

Rubble has Franklin up against the ropes in a clinch.
Rubble is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Rubble connects with a knee to the head.

Rubble manages to break the clinch.
Rubble bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Rubble scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Rubble scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Franklin looks gassed!

Rubble clinches.
Rubble is pressed up against the ropes. Franklin has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rubble down to the mat. Rubble avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Rubble stuns Franklin with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Barney Rubble is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Franklin fails with the takedown
and Rubble counters with a nice body kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rubble lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Rubble, right into the meat.
Franklin takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Rubble - that will leave a mark!
Franklin is trying desperately to land a takedown but Rubble is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Franklin.
Rubble feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Franklin's calf.

Rubble lands with a kick to the temple. Franklin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Rubble with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Rubble throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Rubble lands with a thumping leg kick.
Rubble thows a body kick. Franklin tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Rubble lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Rubble lands with a kick to the temple. Franklin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Ben Franklin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rubble feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Franklin's calf.
Franklin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Franklin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rubble counters with a slapping leg kick.
Rubble looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Rubble connects with a body shot that sends Franklin's belly button to the back.
Franklin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rubble counters with a nice leg kick.

Rubble is looking to slow Franklin down with leg kicks.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Rubble.
Franklin takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Rubble. Franklin shrugs it off though.
Rubble lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Good leg kick by Rubble there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Rubble throws a nice outside leg kick.
Rubble pushes Franklin away with a front kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Franklin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rubble pinned against the ropes. Rubble gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rubble lets loose with a powerful body kick. Franklin will feel that in the morning.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rubble throws a front kick that sends Franklin stumbling back into the ropes.
Rubble swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Franklin.
Franklin sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Rubble connects with a leg kick. Franklin looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Rubble scores with a kick to the body.
Franklin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rubble counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Nice body kick from Rubble.
Rubble lands with a thumping leg kick.
A jab from Rubble does it's job there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rubble slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Rubble moves into the clinch.
Rubble putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Franklin in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Rubble lands a knee to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barney Rubble dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Franklin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rubble sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Franklin somewhat.
Rubble is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Franklin can do to turn this around?

Rubble drives through and clinches with Franklin against the ropes.

Franklin pulls guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Rubble is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Rubble preventing the sweep.
Rubble not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Barney Rubble just wasn't active enough.
Rubble chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Franklin shoots and misses
and Rubble counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Franklin is breathing heavily.
Franklin chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rubble can pounce on him.
Franklin's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
A solid leg kick lands there for Rubble.
Franklin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Barney Rubble has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Franklin.
Rubble smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Rubble fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Franklin.
Rubble pushes Franklin away with a front kick.
Rubble moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Rubble throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Franklin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Rubble turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Rubble looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Franklin takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rubble darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
A decent looking cross lands there for Rubble.
Rubble lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Rubble. Franklin shrugs it off though.
Rubble moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Rubble fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Rubble changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Rubble feints and then cracks Franklin's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Franklin down.
Rubble scores with a crisp jab that stopped Franklin in his tracks.
Whack! Rubble lands a heavy head kick that drops Franklin. The ref tackles Rubble to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Franklin was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Barney Rubble!
Barney Rubble retains his featherweight title!
Barney Rubble thanked the fans post fight for their support.
