Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dorian Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gabranth Vaan! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Vaan misses with a lunging right hand
and Lee counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Vaan's guard now. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Lee throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Lee postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Lee in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Lee throws a big elbow that misses. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Vaan wants to stand but Lee is controlling the position. Lee throws a big right hand that misses. Lee slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Vaan has a closed guard, preventing Lee from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lee trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Lee chips away with some ground and pound. Lee throwing strikes but missing. Vaan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Lee is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Vaan is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Vaan has escaped and now he's on top!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vaan stopping the sweep attempt from Lee. Lee is looking to sweep but instead, Vaan has passed into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee is working hard here to advance position. Lee regains full guard. Nicely done. Lee has his foot on Vaan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vaan works his way back into a safe position though. Vaan is looking to stand up but Lee won't let him. Lee has an active guard here but Vaan has managed to pass into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee tries to get to full guard but Vaan has control of the leg. Vaan is thwarting Lee's attempts to control the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dorian Lee dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Lee looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Vaan is refusing to be controlled, as Lee sits in half guard. Vaan kicks Lee off and gets back to his feet. A head kick misses from Lee. A jab from Vaan misses. Lee shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Vaan sprawls well. Vaan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lee gets slowly back to his feet. Lee shoots in looking for a takedown. Vaan tries to sprawl out of it but Lee keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vaan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Lee shoots in looking for a takedown. That's one minute gone in the round. Vaan connects with a good right hand that stumbles Lee. Lee circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Lee shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vaan but Vaan pushes him off and we're back to square one. Vaan lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Vaan throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Lee ducks under a wild hook from Vaan. Lee misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Lee doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vaan lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nice uppercut lands for Vaan. That snapped Lee's head back.
Vaan walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Lee drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Vaan swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Lee's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gabranth Vaan!
