PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ben Poslett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Wayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Poslett's entrance music is Kashmir - Led Zeppelin. A fine choice. Wayne has chosen Pantera - Cowboys From Hell as his entrance music. Ben Poslett has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ben Poslett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Travis Wayne!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Poslett moves into the clinch.
Wayne looking for a takedown.
Poslett changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Wayne fights it off and pushes away nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Wayne enables Poslett to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wayne manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Poslett seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Wayne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Poslett. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ben Poslett just wasn't active enough.
Wayne stuffs the takedown attempt from Poslett. Poslett gets slowly back to his feet.
Wayne pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Poslett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Wayne is trying to stand back up but Poslett is controlling him
Poslett is taking a breather. Wayne says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Poslett thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wayne's head.

Poslett seems to be looking for submissions.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Poslett wants to free his trapped foot but Wayne is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Poslett in particular looking to stall.
Poslett has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Poslett drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Poslett jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Poslett thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Wayne not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Poslett is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Travis Wayne has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Poslett fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Wayne to the ground. Poslett is now in Wayne's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Poslett tries to free his leg and advance position but Wayne is retaining full guard.
Wayne is looking to stand up but Poslett isn't so interested in that idea.
Poslett postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Poslett closes the distance and clinches.
Wayne content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Poslett has Wayne pressed against the cage, preventing Wayne from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Wayne breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Wayne manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Wayne's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Wayne shoots in for a takedown but Poslett shows good takedown defense.

Poslett shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Wayne is trying to defend but Poslett finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Poslett stands up and beckons Wayne to join him on the feet.
Wayne fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Poslett rushes Wayne and presses him up against the cage.

Wayne misses with an elbow over the top.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wayne is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Poslett is controlling him.

Poslett wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wayne keeps working.

Ben Poslett overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Poslett is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Wayne looks calm but he's in trouble here. Poslett gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Wayne is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Poslett lets go of the hold and Wayne can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ben Poslett!
A relieved looking Ben Poslett thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
