Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joey West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Liddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Chuck Liddle looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joey West! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chuck Liddle! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Shimada and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! West moves into the clinch. West tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Liddle smiles and moves away.

West shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Liddle as he avoids it easily. West is breathing heavily. Liddle misses with a two punch combination.

and West counters with a low kick, right behind Liddle 's knee. Liddle throws a left and a right that both miss
and West counters with a nice leg kick. Liddle looks to land a combination but West avoids it well. Liddle throws a right and a left that West avoids nicely. West looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Liddle wants to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Liddle tries to kick West off but West keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. West works his way into side control. Liddle is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. West tries to advance to mount but can't. West throws a strike aimed at the side of Liddle's head but Liddle avoids it well. West is trying to get an arm triangle but Liddle is defending well. Liddle wants to get back to his feet but West drags him back down.

Liddle looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. West shoots in and bounces Liddle off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. West has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Liddle wants to get back to his feet but West is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That was a close round but I would say that Joey West will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Liddle uses from the top position.
