Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hessu Hopo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tatsuyo Hayate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hopo's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Bodies. Hessu Hopo has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hessu Hopo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tatsuyo Hayate!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hopo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hayate looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hayate working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hopo.
Hayate wants to sweep here but Hopo controlling him for the moment.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hopo is looking to reverse the position.

Hopo takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Hopo takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Still in half guard, Hayate seems content to control.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hopo shoots in and drives through. Hayate sprawls well.
Hopo scores with a jab to the body.
Hopo bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hayate's head.

Hopo closes the distance and pushes Hayate back into the ropes.
Hopo is looking for a takedown.
Hopo misses with a hook from the clinch.
Hopo jumps guard but Hayate turns him against the ropes and keeps the fight standing.

Hopo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hayate swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hayate gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Hayate wants to control but Hopo is keeping busy.
Hayate on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Hopo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hayate manages to get to full guard.
Hopo stopping the sweep attempt from Hayate.

Hayate lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hayate cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Hopo sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Hayate thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tatsuyo Hayate showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Hopo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Hopo in side control, throwing shots but Hayate defends.
Hopo sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Hayate is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Hayate parries the strikes from Hopo easily there. Hopo is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hayate to escape.

Hopo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hayate is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hopo misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Hopo throwing strikes but Hayate manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Hopo tries to buck Hayate off but Hayate is having none of it.
Hayate is looking to take a break and control but Hopo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hopo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hayate's head.
Hayate has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hopo is working away from the top position though.
Hopo tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hayate knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hopo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hayate with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hopo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hayate is just riding it out for now. Hopo eventually gives up the hold.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hessu Hopo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hopo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
