Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jens Mestermand! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chris Silvers! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mestermand tries to clinch there but Silvers circles away.
Mestermand goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
It looks like Chris Silvers has been cut. Silvers avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mestermand moves in looking to clinch but Silvers pushes him off. Mestermand wants to clinch up but Silvers keeps it at a distance. Silvers scores with a takedown into Mestermand's guard. Silvers passes Mestermand's right leg, so he's now in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silvers is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Mestermand is trying to maintain the position but Silvers is very close to passing his half guard. Mestermand wants to get back to full guard. Mestermand knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silvers on the ground. Silvers is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Silvers wants to work for an arm triangle but Mestermand is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Mestermand is trying to stand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mestermand tries to get to full guard but Silvers has control of the leg. Mestermand is defending against the submission attempts here by Silvers.
Silvers looks gassed! Silvers sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Mestermand defending well though. Mestermand is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Silvers pulls his head out easily. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Mestermand blocking the ground and pound attempt from Silvers. Mestermand is trying to control but can't.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mestermand with a lazy takedown attempt and Silvers counters with a nice double leg into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silvers trying to control the position from guard on top but Mestermand is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mestermand looking to hit a scissor sweep but Silvers is one step ahead there. Silvers postures up.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Silvers works a leg free and moves into half guard. Silvers is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Mestermand is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
