Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Glen Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Johnnie Rico!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rico lands a nice shot to the body.
A combination from Rico does no damage.
Rico defending well as Davis loads up on a big left hand.
Rico moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Glen Davis has been cut.
Rico slips a jab and a cross from Davis.
Davis closes the distance and clinches up with Rico, looking for a takedown. Davis pushes Rico against the cage but Rico circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rico's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Davis connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Rico scrambles back to his feet.
Rico stuffs the takedown attempt from Davis. Davis gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Glen Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Davis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rico.
Davis takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rico throws a combination. Davis tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Davis staying out of range there.
Davis walks into a straight right hand from Rico.
Davis keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Rico.
Davis ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rico misses with a series of wild punches.

Davis scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Rico avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Davis.

Davis seems to be working for a kimura but Rico defends the submission attempt.
Davis is keen to just control but Rico is a slippery customer.

Rico is defending against the submission attempts here by Davis.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis working the head and body with strikes.
Rico is looking for a sweep. Davis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Davis lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Davis thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Davis not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Rico regains full guard. Nicely done.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Davis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rico looking for a sweep. Not yet Rico, not yet.
Davis is stalling in the full guard.
Rico trying to keep a closed guard but Davis is proving a slippery customer.

Davis postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rico is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Davis, into his guard.
Rico in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davis is controlling Rico's posture.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Davis has his foot on Rico's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rico works his way back into a safe position though.
Rico trying to control but Davis is working from the bottom.
Davis looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Rico stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Davis has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Rico manages to get his head free but now Davis has transitioned to an armbar! Rico grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Davis! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Glen Davis!
