9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matthew Five Sixteen! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Zaine Lovell! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lovell throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Five Sixteen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lovell is in Five Sixteen's guard. Lovell working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Five Sixteen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Lovell stopping the sweep attempt from Five Sixteen. Lovell loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Five Sixteen is looking for a triangle but Lovell pushes his legs off easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Lovell tries to hold on but Five Sixteen pushes him away. Lovell bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Five Sixteen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Five Sixteen being controlled here, momentarily. Lovell trying to stand up but can't free himself from Five Sixteen's guard. Five Sixteen trying to control the position.
Lovell wants to stand but Five Sixteen has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Five Sixteen trying to keep a closed guard but Lovell is proving a slippery customer.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Five Sixteen is looking to clinch but Lovell is avoiding it.

Lovell throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Lovell stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lovell wants it to stay on the feet. Zaine Lovell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lovell lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Five Sixteen tries to clinch up. Lovell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Five Sixteen moves out of range as Lovell strikes. Lovell connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Lovell has taken the fight to the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lovell manages to break the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Five Sixteen moves in looking to clinch but Lovell pushes him off. Lovell is looking to clinch. Five Sixteen avoids the head kick by Lovell.
Lovell throws a nice outside leg kick. Lovell dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Lovell!
Five Sixteen is breathing heavily. Lovell tries to bum rush Five Sixteen with a series of wild strikes but Five Sixteen uses good footwork to avoid the assault. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Five Sixteen is defended easily by Lovell. Five Sixteen shoots in for a takedown but Lovell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zaine Lovell dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Five Sixteen misses with a low kick.
Five Sixteen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Lovell tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Five Sixteen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Lovell moves into the clinch. Lovell breaks from the clinch.

Lovell circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Five Sixteen drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Lovell follows Five Sixteen to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
