I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mark Caldwell was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caldwell wants to clinch but Meirelles slips to the side

and Meirelles counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Meirelles passes Caldwell's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Meirelles is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Caldwell is just riding it out for now. Meirelles eventually gives up the hold.
Caldwell tries to get to full guard but Meirelles has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Meirelles is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
