PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rea Per (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeffrey The Dude (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Rea Per has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rea Per!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeffrey The Dude!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Per looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The Dude fails with an attempt to clinch.
Per tries to bum rush The Dude with a series of wild strikes but The Dude uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Per lands an overhand right.
The Dude pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Per throws a combination. The Dude tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Rea Per seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A combination from Per does no damage.
Per tries to bum rush The Dude with a series of wild strikes but The Dude uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The Dude showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Per.
A choreographed right hand from Per misses the target.

The Dude has closed the distance and engaged Per in a clinch.

Per breaks from the clinch.

The Dude clinches up against the cage.
Per has had enough of the clinch but The Dude keeps him there for the moment.
The Dude tries to pull guard but Per won't allow it.
Per has a couple of punches blocked by The Dude.
The Dude jumps guard but Per stands there with The Dude around his waist. The Dude gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The Dude fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Rea Per has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeffrey The Dude.
The Dude wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Per has him pressed against the cage.

Per escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Per looks to land a body kick but The Dude moved away.
Per throws a head kick that misses.
The Dude moves out of range as Per strikes.
The Dude misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Per.
The Dude displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Per throws out the jab.
Rea Per is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The Dude checks a leg kick nicely.
Per attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Per misses with a low kick.
A head kick misses from Per.
The Dude dodges the punch combination from Per.
Some wild striking there from Per.
Per closes the distance looking to clinch

and The Dude counters by clinching up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Per is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Per wants to break free but The Dude has control.
The Dude has had enough of the clinch but Per keeps him there for the moment.

The Dude working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Per doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Per manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Per wants to control from the top but The Dude keeps moving.

The Dude throws his legs up looking for a submission but Per uses it to pass to side control.
The Dude tries to improve position but can't.
Per wants to stand but The Dude has his arm trapped.
The Dude is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Per off and has taken his back!
The Dude throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The Dude wants to control but Per is keeping busy.
The Dude thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

The Dude is persistently looking for the submission but Per is defending it well.
Per trying to control the action but The Dude just sinks the hooks in.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Per covering up well under a barage of strikes.

The Dude working for a choke but Per is defending well.
I really don't envy Per right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeffrey The Dude dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Per gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The Dude pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Per is keeping the position for now.
Per keeping moving, preventing The Dude from controlling successfully.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The Dude wants to control from the top but Per keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Per swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Per misses with a few strikes there.
Per fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Per throws a right hand that The Dude ducks under and follows up with a left that The Dude also avoids with ease.

Per throws a right and a left that both miss.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Per throws a quick inside leg kick.
Some wild striking there from Per.
The Dude fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
The Dude has a takedown stuffed.
Per tries to clinch but The Dude moves away

and The Dude counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Per's guard now.
The Dude looking to pass the guard.
The Dude is breathing heavily.
The Dude wants to control from the top but Per keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The Dude stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Per swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The Dude is pushing down on Per's leg trying to pass to half guard. Per is fighting to maintain full guard but The Dude has managed to sneak the leg through.
The Dude is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Per reverses the position - he's now on top in The Dude's guard.
Per throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as The Dude works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The Dude keeping moving, preventing Per from controlling successfully.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The Dude wants to sweep but no luck.

The Dude looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Per has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The Dude is looking for a triangle but Per pushes his legs off easily.
Per wants to pass the guard but The Dude is keeping the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Per won't allow The Dude to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeffrey The Dude showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


The Dude takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Per throws a lazy right hand but The Dude sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A big head kick from Per and The Dude is sent sprawling to the canvas!

The Dude is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The Dude is still in real trouble! Can Per finish him?

The Dude had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Per is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. The Dude Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Per's back instead.
The Dude seems to have recovered his senses.
Per is trying to stand back up.
The Dude takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

A lull in the action here.
Per looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
The Dude is riding his opponent, not letting Per buck him off.
Per staying busy and making it hard for The Dude to control.

The Dude has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Per is in real trouble here. The Dude gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Per is tapping out! The Dude wins by rear naked choke!
