Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jordan Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alan Kolodin! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch combination from Johnson misses. Kolodin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johnson but Johnson pushes him off and we're back to square one. Kolodin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Johnson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kolodin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Johnson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kolodin sees it coming and avoids it easily. Johnson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kolodin moves away. Kolodin fails with the takedown. Jordan Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan Kolodin. Some wild striking there from Johnson.
Johnson swings for the body but Kolodin moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson swings and misses with a shot to the body and Kolodin counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Kolodin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Johnson napping and manages to drive through into side control! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Johnson on the wrong end of some ground and pound. A lull in the action here. Kolodin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kolodin wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kolodin working the ground and pound but Johnson is defending the strikes. Johnson is not content to let Kolodin control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kolodin's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Kolodin passes to side control. Johnson tries to bench press Kolodin off him but Kolodin keeps the position. Kolodin trying to control the position but Johnson is working away. The strikes coming from Kolodin are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Johnson tries to escape but Kolodin is in control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kolodin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Johnson manages to get back to half guard. Johnson is trying to stand up here but Kolodin is controlling him well. Kolodin trying to control the pace. Kolodin looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Johnson is staying active underneath Kolodin, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Johnson keeping control of the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson is looking to control Kolodin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Johnson avoid being mounted? Johnson is looking for a sweep. Kolodin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Johnson wants to control the action here but instead Kolodin manages to pass to full mount! Johnson blocking the ground and pound. Kolodin unloads with some shots from mount but Johnson bucks and avoids them well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kolodin with shots to the head and body - Johnson looks very uncomfortable down there. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kolodin lands a big shot there that rocks Johnson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Johnson prevents any damage by holding on tight. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alan Kolodin dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Kolodin throws a right and a left that Johnson avoids nicely. Johnson throws a nice looking combination but Kolodin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Kolodin fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Kolodin has his takedown stuffed and Johnson counters with a lovely shot to the body. Johnson loads up on a big right hand but Kolodin slips the punch. Kolodin fails to land the takedown. Jordan Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan Kolodin. Johnson throws the left hand but Kolodin avoids the punch easily. Kolodin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kolodin showed some decent athleticism there. Kolodin moves into full mount! Johnson won't be happy about that!
That's one minute gone in the round. Kolodin avoids the attempt from Johnson to control. Kolodin wants to control the pace but Johnson is squirming around nicely. Kolodin throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Kolodin throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Kolodin goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Johnson turns into him and now he's in Kolodin's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kolodin throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Johnson showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Johnson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Johnson wanted to stand there but Kolodin had control of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson wants to control from the top but Kolodin keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Jordan Johnson wasn't doing enough on the ground. Johnson jabs Kolodin to the body, keeping him at a distance. Kolodin fails with a takedown attempt. Johnson checks a leg kick nicely. Johnson throws a big shot that misses. Nice takedown defense from Johnson. No joy for Kolodin on that attempt. Kolodin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kolodin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Johnson. Johnson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Kolodin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kolodin somewhat. Kolodin moves out of range of the strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kolodin. Johnson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jordan Johnson dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Johnson pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kolodin back to the cage. Johnson follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Jordan Johnson is winning the standup battle so far. Kolodin with a lazy takedown attempt and Kolodin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kolodin is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Johnson drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Kolodin right on the button. Kolodin goes down! Johnson follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Johnson gets the win via TKO!
