Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Satoshi Kajiwara! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daniel Cook! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cook fails with the takedown. Cook stuffs the takedown. Kajiwara shoots and misses and Cook counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Kajiwara keeping moving, preventing Cook from controlling successfully. Kajiwara looking for subs off his back but Cook has passed one foot through into half guard.
Kajiwara gets full guard. Cook works a leg free and moves into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kajiwara looks like he's trying to stand up.
Cook wants to stand up but Kajiwara is controlling the position.
Cook is stalling here. Kajiwara is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Cook seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kajiwara has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cook is looking to regain half guard here but Kajiwara keeps moving and retains side control. Kajiwara looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Cook parries the strikes from Kajiwara easily there. Kajiwara is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Cook to escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cook can do anything to dispel that myth. Kajiwara creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cook sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Cook struggling a bit here. Kajiwara trying to control the action but Cook is working from the bottom. Kajiwara has an Americana. Cook didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Kajiwara is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Kajiwara hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Satoshi Kajiwara!
