Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Greg Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Somchai Kangjai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Greg Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Somchai Kangjai!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Jones controlling the pace.
Jones prevents Kangjai from improving his position.

Kangjai looking for submissions off his back.

Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kangjai is looking for a sweep. Jones is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Kangjai looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Jones decides to return to a standing position.
Kangjai shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jones but Jones pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jones avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Greg Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Jones counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Kangjai is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Jones stands up from Kangjai's guard - Jones perhaps looking for a knockout.

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones tries for a kimura but Kangjai is defending well.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Kangjai struggling a bit here.
A lull in the action here.
Kangjai looking for a sweep but Jones has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Jones putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Kangjai keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
BOOM! Jones connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Jones controlling the pace for now.
Jones landing strikes from the mount.
Jones in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Jones cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kangjai can't escape the position.
Jones content just to control the position here.
Jones can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kangjai is looking to escape.
Kangjai is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Greg Jones dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Kangjai moves into the clinch successfully.
Jones fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Kangjai has Jones pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jones manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Jones breaks the clinch.

Kangjai gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Kangjai is keeping the position.

Jones stands and steps away. Kangjai gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Kangjai has managed to clinch.
Jones prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kangjai looking for a takedown.
Greg Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Somchai Kangjai.
Jones wants a takedown but no success here.

and Jones counters with a single leg into guard. Kangjai didn't expect that.
Kangjai should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kangjai keeps working.

Jones is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Kangjai tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.
Jones frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Kangjai wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Jones avoiding Kangjai 's attempts to control his hands.
Greg Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jones looking for the RNC.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Jones's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Kangjai rolls, trying to escape but Jones keeps control of the position.
Kangjai is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Jones has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Kangjai tries to roll but Jones sticks to his back.

Jones tries to keep control of the position but Kangjai is staying busy.
What can Kangjai do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Jones doesn't have the hooks in and Kangjai manages to turn into his guard.
Kangjai loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Jones is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Kangjai won't allow Jones to sweep him here.
Kangjai in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Kangjai throws a big right hand that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kangjai looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kangjai clinches with his opponent.
Jones gets underhooks to prevent Kangjai's takedown attempt.

Jones works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Kangjai looking for a sweep. Not yet Kangjai, not yet.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kangjai bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard.
Kangjai tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Greg Jones dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Kangjai fails with the takedown

and Jones decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kangjai's guard.
Kangjai looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Kangjai is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kangjai is looking to stand up but Jones isn't so interested in that idea.
Jones postures up and lands a big shot to Kangjai's brow.
Jones is in close to Kangjai's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jones passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Kangjai is looking for a sweep.

Jones decides to stand back up.
Kangjai takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kangjai swats away the attempt to clinch by Jones.
Jones tries a head kick but it misses.
Kangjai shoots in but no luck this time.
Jones wants to clinch.
Jones wants to clinch but Kangjai slips to the side

and Kangjai counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kangjai.
Kangjai must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kangjai advances to half guard.
Jones makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jones.

Kangjai is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jones is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jones has escaped and now he's on top!

Kangjai wants to get back to full guard.

Jones is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kangjai doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jones.

Jones looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Jones is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Kangjai has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Kangjai is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kangjai tries to reverse the position but Jones maintains control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jones looking to secure an arm triangle but Kangjai defends it well.
Kangjai is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Jones scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Jones controlling from the full mount.
Somchai Kangjai has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight!
Greg Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
