Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between QL Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mathew Maynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Maynard's choice of entrance music: do it. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maynard jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Maynard looks to land a combination but Hicks avoids it well.
Maynard uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hicks.
Hicks dives in and grabs Maynard's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maynard pushes down on Hicks's head and hops out.
Maynard looks to throw the jab but Hicks is out of range.
Hicks scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Maynard doesn't seem bothered though.
Hicks throws a nice looking combination but Maynard bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Maynard looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Maynard lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Maynard lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Maynard leaves Hicks with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hicks throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hicks displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Maynard throws out the jab.
Hicks shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Maynard manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Hicks is keen to just control but Maynard is a slippery customer.

Hicks uses his free foot to push down on Maynard's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Maynard.

Hicks seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Maynard does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Maynard bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Maynard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hicks swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Maynard stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Hicks throws up his legs and catches Maynard in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Maynard tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Hicks! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). QL Hicks!

After winning the bout, QL Hicks thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
