3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Naser Al Shami! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Luke Summers! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Summers closes the distance and clinches up with Al Shami, looking for a takedown. Summers pushes Al Shami against the cage but Al Shami circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Summers has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Luke Summers has been cut. Summers shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Al Shami defends it nicely. Naser Al Shami seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Summers checks a leg kick. Al Shami throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Summers shoots in looking for a takedown but Al Shami manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Summers's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Naser Al Shami has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luke Summers. Al Shami connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Summers dives in and grabs Al Shami's left leg, looking for a takedown. Al Shami pushes down on Summers's head and hops out. Summers slips a jab and a cross from Al Shami.
Summers uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Nice defenses there by Summers. Summers takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! No joy there for Al Shami, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Al Shami throws a leg kick but Summers sees it coming and checks it nicely. Summers staying out of range there. A combination from Al Shami does no damage. Nice defenses there by Summers. Summers moves out of range as Al Shami strikes. Naser Al Shami is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Summers walks into a stiff left hand from Al Shami. Summers feints and as Al Shami raises his hands in defense, Summers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Summers stops Al Shami from standing up. Al Shami has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Summers off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Summers looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Summers takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Al Shami connects with a right hand. Summers shakes it off. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Al Shami throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Summers sees it coming and avoids it easily. Al Shami is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Summers. Al Shami stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Al Shami wants it to stay on the feet. Al Shami rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Summers moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Summers blocks a jab. Summers tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Al Shami swivels and escapes. Al Shami scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Summers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Al Shami but Al Shami pushes him off and we're back to square one. Al Shami lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Summers circles away quickly and effectively. Summers has a takedown stuffed. Summers takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Al Shami scores with a sloppy right hand. Summers should have avoided that one. Al Shami scores with a leg kick.
Al Shami checks a leg kick nicely. Al Shami defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Summers. A combination from Al Shami does no damage. Al Shami looks to land a left hand but Summers moved out of range nicely. Al Shami lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Al Shami lands a slapping body shot.
Summers takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Nice body punch from Al Shami. Summers looks gassed! Al Shami moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Al Shami lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Summers circles away quickly and effectively. Danga de danga de dang - Al Shami scores with a four punch combination!
That has opened up Luke Summers's cut even more. Al Shami moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Al Shami throws a body punch but Summers moves out of range. Summers shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Al Shami defends it nicely. Al Shami with a body punch. A glancing blow. Al Shami misses with a two punch combination.
Al Shami checks a leg kick. Al Shami throws out a loose jab but Summers uses good head movement to avoid it. Al Shami lands a really nice looking cross but Summers seems unphased.
Summers throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Al Shami's waist but Al Shami gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Summers off to one side. Al Shami throws a hook but Summers avoids it easily. Al Shami throws a series of punches but Summers avoids them all with ease. Al Shami blocks the body kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Summers bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Al Shami misses with a two punch combination.

Summers blocks a jab. Al Shami throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Summers sees it coming and avoids it easily. Al Shami on the wrong end of a nice hook. Al Shami throws a series of punches but Summers moves out of range. No joy there for Al Shami, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Summers takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Summers will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. No luck for Summers with that takedown attempt. Summers checks a leg kick. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A big right from Al Shami misses. Al Shami attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Al Shami throws a right hand that Summers ducks under and follows up with a left that Summers also avoids with ease. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Naser Al Shami dominated that round. The cut man is working on Luke Summers's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Al Shami feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Summerss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Al Shami here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Al Shami misses the jab. Summers uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Al Shami. Al Shami throws a series of punches but Summers avoids them all with ease. A leg kick checked by Summers. Al Shami's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Al Shami duly obliges. Al Shami throws a hook but Summers blocks it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Summers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Al Shami but Al Shami pushes him off and we're back to square one. Al Shami misses with a jab, cross combination.

The cut above Luke Summers's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Al Shami jabbing away but nothing is landing. Summers shoots for a double leg takedown but Al Shami sprawls well. He's pushed Summers's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Al Shami throws an overhand right that lands on Summers's shoulder, as Summers tries to avoid the shot. Summers walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A decent looking cross lands there for Al Shami. Al Shami throws a right hand that Summers ducks under and follows up with a left that Summers also avoids with ease. Al Shami misses with a wild combination.

Luke Summers's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters. Summers looks to land a left hand but Al Shami moved out of range nicely. Al Shami works the jab nicely. Al Shami throws a right and a left that both miss. Al Shami throws a hook but Summers avoids it easily. Summers clobbers Al Shami with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Al Shami misses with a looping left.
