Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vadim Vovchyn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Knut Kroger! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kroger throws a right and a left that both miss. Vovchyn misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Kroger connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Kroger scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Vovchyn throws a hook but Kroger avoids it easily. Vovchyn fails with the takedown. Vovchyn shoots for a double leg takedown but Kroger sprawls well. He's pushed Vovchyn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vadim Vovchyn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Vovchyn. Vovchyn looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Kroger stops Vovchyn from passing to mount. Kroger wants to get back to his feet but Vovchyn drags him back down. Kroger tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Kroger is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vovchyn trying to control but he's not successful this time. Kroger bucks up and throws Vovchyn to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape! Vovchyn fails with the takedown. Left hook, right uppercut from Kroger.
Vovchyn is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vovchyn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Kroger slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Oh Vovchyn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kroger uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Vovchyn. Vovchyn seems to have got his legs back now. Kroger throws a series of punches but Vovchyn avoids them all with ease. Vovchyn shoots in for a takedown but Kroger shows good takedown defense.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Kroger scores with a shot to the body.
Kroger lands a big head kick that sends Vovchyn to the canvas! Kroger follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Knut Kroger!
