Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Phil Neal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryo Kanzaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phil Neal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryo Kanzaki! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Steve Montenegro and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Neal takes a swing at Kanzaki's ribcage but misses. Neal really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Kanzaki stuffs the takedown attempt from Neal. Neal gets slowly back to his feet. Neal uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kanzaki has time to react. Kanzaki looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Phil Neal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Neal fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kanzaki manages to avoid it. Neal fails with a takedown attempt. Neal shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Kanzaki eats them both and turns towards Neal to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Neal bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kanzaki's head. Neal gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kanzaki counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phil Neal. That's going to take a lot out of him. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kanzaki loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kanzaki trying to control the position from guard on top but Neal is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kanzaki trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Neal trying to control the position here. Neal's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Phil Neal has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Neal throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kanzaki counters with a shoot takedown. Neal fights it but they end up in guard. Kanzaki is looking to work some ground and pound but Neal has wrist control. Kanzaki throws an elbow that misses. Neal uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kanzaki's guard. Nice move by Neal! Kanzaki looking to hit a scissor sweep but Neal is one step ahead there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kanzaki is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Neal trying to control the position from guard on top but Kanzaki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kanzaki preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Kanzaki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Neal controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Nealis looking to pass into half guard but Kanzaki pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Kanzaki is in guard. Kanzaki pushes down on Neal's leg and manages to get into half guard. Neal is trying to stand back up but Kanzaki is controlling him
That's three minutes gone in the round. Neal gets full guard. Kanzaki throws a strike but Neal rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Neal is looking to work some ground and pound but Kanzaki has wrist control. Neal throws a strike but Kanzaki rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Kanzaki postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kanzaki wants to control from the top but Neal keeps moving. Kanzaki avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Neal has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kanzaki in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Kanzaki trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Neal being controlled here, momentarily. Kanzaki loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Neal preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Kanzaki trying to control the position from guard on top but Neal is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kanzaki stays in close to Neal's body and controls the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Ryo Kanzaki will probably get the nod. That's time! Neal's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Kanzaki counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Kanzaki trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Neal trying to keep a closed guard but Kanzaki is proving a slippery customer.
Kanzaki trying to control the position from guard on top but Neal is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kanzaki working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Kanzaki looking to sit in guard and control but Neal gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Neal wants to control from the top but Kanzaki keeps moving. Neal in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Kanzaki is looking for a triangle but Neal pushes his legs off easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kanzaki keeping moving, preventing Neal from controlling successfully. Neal advances to half guard. Neal not landing any meaningful shots this time. Kanzaki preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Ground and pound from Neal. Neal is looking to take a break and control but Kanzaki is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Neal sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kanzaki defending well though. Neal is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kanzaki has managed to free his arm - good work. Kanzaki is trying to maintain the position but Neal is very close to passing his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neal passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Kanzaki! Neal raining down hammerfists from mount. Neal is in the full mount, landing strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Neal putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Kanzaki working to try and regain half guard.

Kanzaki is still in real trouble! Can Neal finish him? Neal dominating with strikes here. Kanzaki is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kanzaki seems to have recovered his senses. Neal wants to control the pace but Kanzaki is squirming around nicely. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Neal cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Neal lands a big shot to the head and Kanzaki winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

A very excited looking Phil Neal made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
