Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frankie Logan!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Logan paws at him with a jab and circles away.
David Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Logan misses with a few strikes there.
Logan works over Smith's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like David Smith has been cut.
Logan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Logan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smith.

Smith dives in and scores a takedown into Logan's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith working some strikes from top position.
Smith trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Smith with a flurry of punches that miss.
Smith tries to stand but Logan is controlling from the bottom.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Logan is keeping the position.
Smith is looking to work some ground and pound but Logan has wrist control.
Logan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Logan looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Smith puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Logan is holding on to half guard well.
Smith prevents Logan from improving his position.
Smith wants to take a breather but Logan is having none of it.
Smith takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Smith seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Logan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Smith looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Logan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Smith is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Logan defends it well.
Smith lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Logan trying to control from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith passes into side control, despite Logan's attempt to control the position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith trying to control the action but Logan is working from the bottom.
Logan wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Smith is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Logan is trying to escape and Smith transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Logan is forced to tap! Nice work there by Smith! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). David Smith!
