The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paulo clinches.
Souza breaks the clinch.
Tevinho Souza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Paulo misses with a double jab.
Souza darts in trying to clinch
and Paulo counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Tevinho Souza has been cut.
Souza is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The fight stays on the outside here - Souza looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Paulo jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Paulo attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Souza darts in trying to clinch
and Paulo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Paulo is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Souza to keep the fight standing.

Paulo is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Souza gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joao Paulo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Paulo is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Souza pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Paulo avoids the elbow strike from Souza, against the cage.
Paulo wants to break the clinch but can't.
Paulo wants to take the fight to the mat but Souza manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Souza wants to control from the top but Paulo keeps moving.
Paulo uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Souza tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Paulo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A big left from Paulo misses.
The fighters circling - Paulo throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Souza staying out of range there.
Souza tries to close the distance and clinch but Paulo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Souza closes the distance but Paulo moves to the side
and Souza takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Paulo looks to score with a jab to the body but Souza is just out of range.

and Paulo counters with a crisp right that sends Souza to the canvas! Paulo follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
