Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Harry Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Horst Schiller!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Viktor Lagutenko and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Schiller counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Harry Anderson has been cut.
Anderson misses with a takedown
and Schiller connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Anderson closes the distance but Schiller moves to the side
and Schiller counters by clinching up.
Anderson can't get the takedown.
Schiller stalling in the clinch.
Schiller makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Anderson managing to block the knees to the body from Schiller.
Schiller is pressed up against the cage. Anderson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Schiller down to the mat. Schiller avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harry Anderson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Schiller turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Schiller throws a head kick but Anderson moves out of range.
Anderson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Schiller bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Schiller throws a head kick that half lands.
Anderson is rocked!
Schiller drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Anderson's head, knocking him out cold! Schiller is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Horst Schiller!
After the fight, Horst Schiller was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
