Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Isaac Newton! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Wilson Maughan! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Newton on the wrong end of a nice hook. Newton closes the distance and clinches up with Maughan, looking for a takedown. Newton pushes Maughan against the cage but Maughan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Newton shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Maughan defends it nicely. Maughan swings for the body but Newton moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Newton has gone for a leg lock! Maughan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Newton's guard. Maughan trying to control but Newton is working from the bottom. Newton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Maughan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Maughan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Newton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Maughan trying to control the position from guard on top but Newton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maughan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Maughan looking to sit in guard and control but Newton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Newton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Newton passes into half guard. Newton is looking for a kimura but Maughan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Newton to get the leverage. Newton turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Newton manages to end up in side control. Newton working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Newton is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Maughan looks calm but he's in trouble here. Newton gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Maughan is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Newton lets go of the hold and Maughan can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Isaac Newton! Isaac Newton is the new welterweight champion! Isaac Newton decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
