PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jean Sibelius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dick Destruction (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Destruction has chosen Earth Sized Microwave by Japanese Torture Comedy Hour as his entrance music. Jean Sibelius has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jean Sibelius!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dick Destruction!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sibelius misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Destruction.
Destruction misses with a hook.
Destruction looks to land a body kick but Sibelius moved away.
A jab from Sibelius does it's job there.

Destruction moves into range and clinches up with Sibelius.
Destruction putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Sibelius in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Destruction using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Sibelius has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Destruction with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sibelius wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Destruction has him pressed against the cage.

Sibelius works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Destruction wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Sibelius is looking to work some ground and pound but Destruction has wrist control.

Sibelius trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Sibelius keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Destruction's head.

Destruction tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sibelius has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Destruction is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sibelius is controlling him.
Destruction not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sibelius is pushing down on Destruction's leg trying to pass to half guard. Destruction is fighting to maintain full guard but Sibelius has managed to sneak the leg through.

Sibelius is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Destruction is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Destruction has hold of Sibelius's hands but Sibelius slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sibelius is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Destruction has managed to free his arm - good work.

Sibelius throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Destruction to regain full guard.
Sibelius tries to free his leg and advance position but Destruction is retaining full guard.
Sibelius controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Sibelius throws a strike but Destruction rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Sibelius is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Destruction defends well.

Sibelius looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Destruction won't allow Sibelius to sweep him here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Destruction throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sibelius tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Destruction is in Sibelius's guard.

Sibelius is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Destruction stands and throws Sibelius's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Destruction throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Sibelius works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sibelius is looking to improve his position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Destruction in particular looking to stall.

Destruction trying to control from half guard but Sibelius is working away.
Sibelius is in trouble now - Destruction has advanced to mount!

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dick Destruction was stalling too much, according to the referee.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dick Destruction showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Destruction throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Destruction counters with a nice kick to the body.
Sibelius throws a body punch but Destruction moves out of range.
Sibelius misses with a wild body shot.
Sibelius swings for the body but Destruction moves out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sibelius. Destruction does a little dance to reset his feet.

Destruction misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sibelius shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Destruction defends it nicely.

Destruction leaves Sibelius with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Destruction takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
A solid leg kick lands there for Destruction.
Sibelius bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Destruction's head.

Destruction attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Sibelius shoots in for a double leg but Destruction sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Destruction pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Destruction fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Destruction tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Destruction stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
A punch combination from Destruction misses.
Sibelius throws a body punch but Destruction moves out of range.
Destruction is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Destruction.
Destruction tries to clinch up but Sibelius circles away and keeps his distance.
Sibelius swings for the body but Destruction moves out of range.

Sibelius dives in and scores a takedown into Destruction's guard.
Sibelius throws an elbow that misses. Destruction uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sibelius's guard. Nice move by Destruction!

Destruction is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to Dick Destruction.
I think Destruction has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
