Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Will Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eugeny Lapik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eugeny Lapik!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Anthony Taglia and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Lapik shows good takedown defense.

Lapik has closed the distance and engaged Jones in a clinch.
Jones tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Lapik just stands there and leans against the cage.

Lapik is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jones's shoulder. That is not cool.

Lapik connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jones some visible discomfort.
Lapik trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom.
Lapik in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Lapik decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Lapik shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Lapik bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jones is breathing heavily.

Lapik decides to stand back up. Lapik steps back and let's Jones get back to his feet.

Lapik shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jones manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lapik slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones wants to stand up but Lapik is controlling him.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lapik looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Jones!
Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lapik on the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lapik content just to control the position here.
Lapik's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lapik takes the fight into the clinch.
Jones tries to score a body lock takedown but Lapik shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Lapik manages to break the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lapik.
Lapik shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Lapik pushes Jones up against the cage in a clinch.

Lapik is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jones can't fight it off and eventually Lapik manages to take the fight to the floor. Jones looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Lapik pushes down on Jones's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Lapik scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Jones on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jones tries to get out of the position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jones is refusing to be controlled, as Lapik sits in half guard.

Lapik content to control rather than advance.

Lapik postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Jones to stand up.
Lapik slaps away a takedown attempt from Jones, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Will Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lapik looks for a takedown but Jones sprawls well.
Will Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eugeny Lapik.

Jones avoids a punch combination nicely.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Jones checks a leg kick.
A head kick misses from Lapik.
Lapik shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lapik's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jones is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Lapik pushes him off.
Lapik tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jones sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lapik somewhat.

Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lapik pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Lapik has closed the distance and engaged Jones in a clinch.

Lapik has hold of one of Jones's legs. Jones is fighting the takedown attempt but Lapik gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lapik gets to his feet. Jones looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Lapik. Lapik gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eugeny Lapik showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Lapik gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A right hand to the body from Lapik.
Jones tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lapik smiles and moves away.
Jones avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Lapik is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Lapik lands a nice short elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones wants to control but Lapik is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lapik with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Lapik works his foot free and advances to mount.
Lapik lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lapik tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jones looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Lapik patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
I would not like to be Jones right now.
You can see the frustration on Jones's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Jones is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Lapik gets his way!
Jones covers up after that shot from Lapik.
Lapik looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
Lapik controls the position.
Lapik is working the ground and pound. Can Jones escape?
I would not like to be Jones right now.

Lapik landing with strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lapik has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Jones has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Lapik connects with a big shot to the side of Jones's head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Eugeny Lapik comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lapik has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
