Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maximus Meridius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Vovchanchyn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Meridius comes to the cage accompanied by Now We Are Free. Vovchanchyn has chosen the game as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Maximus Meridius! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wanderlei Vovchanchyn! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vovchanchyn throws out a powerful jab. Meridius throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Meridius will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. A nice inside leg kick there by Meridius. That's going to slow Vovchanchyn down. Meridius throws a low kick, looking for Vovchanchyn's leg but Vovchanchyn calmly moves out of range. A solid leg kick lands there for Vovchanchyn.
Vovchanchyn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Maximus Meridius seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Meridius throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Vovchanchyn stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Meridius throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Nice shot lands for Meridius. Vovchanchyn throws a big shot that misses. Meridius is trying hard to land a takedown here. Vovchanchyn sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Meridius looks to land a combination but Vovchanchyn avoids it well. Vovchanchyn getting the better of the striking in that exchange. This has been an exciting period of action! Meridius connects with a crisp jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meridius uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Vovchanchyn. Vovchanchyn checks the leg kick nicely there.
Vovchanchyn lands a nice hook to Meridius's body. Meridius takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Vovchanchyn lands a jab-cross combination. Vovchanchyn scores with a shot to the body.
Vovchanchyn throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Meridius looks for a takedown but Vovchanchyn sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maximus Meridius. That's going to take a lot out of him. Vovchanchyn takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Meridius throws a low kick but Vovchanchyn moves out of range easily. Meridius moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The fighters circle momentarily. Meridius darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Meridius tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Meridius tries to clinch but Vovchanchyn is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Meridius displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Vovchanchyn throws out the jab. Meridius misses with a kick to the body.
Vovchanchyn forces Meridius back against the cage and clinches. Meridius tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Meridius throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Vovchanchyn blocks it with crossed arms. Meridius trying to land knees to the body.
Meridius prevents a takedown attempt there.
Vovchanchyn has clasped his hands together around Meridius's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Meridius tries to buck Vovchanchyn off but Vovchanchyn is having none of it. Vovchanchyn tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Meridius manages to work his way to half guard, despite Vovchanchyn's best efforts.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Meridius wants to get back to full guard. Vovchanchyn missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Meridius tries to get to full guard but Vovchanchyn has control of the leg. Vovchanchyn wants to pass to mount but Meridius is defending the position. Vovchanchyn takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Vovchanchyn missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Meridius controlling the position well. Meridius is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Vovchanchyn is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vovchanchyn is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Meridius to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Meridius shrugs it off. Meridius is wriggling around trying to escape.
Vovchanchyn is landing with some decent strikes but Meridius is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. This has been an exciting period of action! Vovchanchyn has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Meridius's face.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Vovchanchyn lands a big elbow.
It looks like Maximus Meridius has been cut. Vovchanchyn with a couple of short strikes.
Meridius is rocked! Vovchanchyn is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Meridius can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Oh Meridius is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Vovchanchyn lands a big elbow - Meridius is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Meridius is forced to tap out!
