Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alessandro Pittana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roy Gracie told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Alessandro Pittana! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roy Gracie! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gracie. Gracie misses with a takedown attempt - Pittana sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. A combination from Pittana does no damage. Alessandro Pittana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Gracie. Pittana throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gracie. Roy Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pittana scores with a nice head shot. Gracie drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Gracie drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pittana manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gracie has Pittana in his guard. Gracie working for a triangle but Pittana defends it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pittana defends well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Pittana with a flurry of punches that miss. Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Gracie working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Pittana. Pittana won't allow Gracie to sweep him here. Pittana got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gracie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pittana has managed to get both his arms back between Gracie's legs - danger averted. This has been an exciting period of action! Pittana throws a big right hand that misses. Pittana throwing strikes but missing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pittana gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Pittana throwing strikes but missing. Gracie looking for a sweep. Not yet Gracie, not yet.

Pittana landing some decent shots from guard. Pittana working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Pittana throws a big elbow that misses. That's four minutes gone in the round. Pittana lands a couple of digs. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pittana has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gracie is proving hard to escape from. Pittana postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Pittana scoring with punches to the head and body. Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pittana defends well. Gracie working a defensive guard here.
Pittana connects with a couple of short punches. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Pittana postures up and lands a big shot to Gracie's brow. Pittana content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Gracie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pittana chips away with some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Alessandro Pittana will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Pittana sizes up Gracie with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Pittana works over Gracie's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Roy Gracie has been cut. Pittana will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gracie shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pittana defends it nicely. Pittana throws a right and a left that Gracie avoids nicely. Pittana throws a series of punches but Gracie moves out of range. A combination from Pittana does no damage. No luck for Gracie with that takedown attempt. Gracie fails with a takedown attempt. Alessandro Pittana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Gracie. This has been an exciting period of action! Pittana throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Gracie misses with a takedown attempt and Pittana counters with a three punch combo that has Gracie backing up. Gracie nods at Pittana to acknowledge the strikes. Gracie is breathing heavily. Pittana is pawing at Gracie, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Gracie's nose. Gracie is badly hurt! Pittana pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Gracie tries desperately to hold on but Pittana is relentless in his assault! As Gracie receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Pittana away and this one is in the books!

During a confident post fight interview, Alessandro Pittana thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
