Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James House (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Scarlatti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think House might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Instruments of Destruction. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James House! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Derek Scarlatti! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scarlatti throws the left hand but House avoids the punch easily. House staying out of range there. Scarlatti fails to land the takedown. Scarlatti misses with a body kick. House misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Scarlatti stuffs the takedown attempt from House. House gets slowly back to his feet. House shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. House is working for a guillotine from mount but Scarlatti frees his head quite easily.
House swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Scarlatti is now in House's guard. A big mistake from House there, giving up the dominant position!
That's one minute gone in the round. Scarlatti trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Scarlatti working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. House seems keen to control Scarlatti's posture. Scarlatti wants to control from the top but House keeps moving. House wants to sweep here but Scarlatti controlling him for the moment. Scarlatti throwing strikes from guard but House blocks nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scarlatti trying to control the position from guard on top but House is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Scarlatti wants to pass the guard but House is keeping the position.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Derek Scarlatti wasn't active enough on the ground. Scarlatti ducks down and throws a hook to the body but House moves away. House closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. House fails with a takedown attempt. House has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James House. That's going to take a lot out of him.

House takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. House closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. House has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Scarlatti is trying to keep an underhook but House manages to get the takedown into half guard. Scarlatti blocking the ground and pound attempt from House.

Scarlatti wants to get back to full guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. House is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Scarlatti doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time House. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. House is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Scarlatti sees it coming and defends easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

House tries to avoid it but Scarlatti manages to keep hold of a leg and drag House to the ground. House escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. House looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Scarlatti wants to control but House is keeping busy and won't allow it. House is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Scarlatti really doesn't want to stay on the ground with House. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Scarlatti wants to get back to full guard but House has passed into side control. Scarlatti is trying to control House's posture but House avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. House is working Scarlatti over with some ground and pound from side control. House lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Scarlatti down.
House looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Scarlatti can't do much from the bottom here. James House overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. House is trying to get an arm triangle but Scarlatti is defending well. Scarlatti tries to bench press House off him but House keeps the position. House throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. House is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Scarlatti has escaped the position, nice work there. House is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Scarlatti knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's four minutes gone in the round. House is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Scarlatti is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. House thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

House lands a nice forearm strike. House throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. House is working to tighten is grip on Scarlatti's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Scarlatti has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but House is really squeezing tight and eventually Scarlatti passes out! House breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
