Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sato Kobayashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ran Sakamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ran Sakamoto looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sato Kobayashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ran Sakamoto!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kobayashi fails with an attempt to clinch.

Kobayashi tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sakamoto swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Sakamoto changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kobayashi tries to avoid it but Sakamoto manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kobayashi to the ground. Kobayashi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sakamoto shoots in but no luck this time.

and Kobayashi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sakamoto won't be happy with that.

Sakamoto is persistently looking for the submission but Kobayashi is defending it well.

Sakamoto is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Kobayashi defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Sakamoto is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Kobayashi knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Kobayashi for a finish.
You can see the frustration on Kobayashi's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Sakamoto fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kobayashi misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sakamoto.
Sakamoto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kobayashi but Kobayashi pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Sakamoto shoots for a double leg takedown but Kobayashi sprawls well. He's pushed Sakamoto's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sato Kobayashi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ran Sakamoto.

Sakamoto had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kobayashi is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sakamoto Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kobayashi's back instead.
Will Sakamoto go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Kobayashi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sakamoto on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Sakamoto is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kobayashi can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Sakamoto tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Kobayashi has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Sakamoto wants to control but Kobayashi is having none of it.

Kobayashi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kobayashi tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Kobayashi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sakamoto has his feet on Kobayashi's thighs here. He's pushed Kobayashi off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Kobayashi screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
