Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Juan Cabrillo! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Sproule! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sproule misses with a series of wild punches.
Sproule lands a slapping body shot.
Cabrillo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sproule's guard. Cabrillo throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cabrillo in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Cabrillo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sproule is keeping the position for now. Sproule really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cabrillo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cabrillo advances position into side control! Cabrillo throws an elbow but Sproule slips to the side and avoids it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sproule regains half guard, as Cabrillo was trying to land strikes. Cabrillo thows a huge punch but Sproule dodges it nicely.
Cabrillo lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Cabrillo working the head and body with strikes. Cabrillo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Cabrillo is looking for a kimura but Sproule is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cabrillo to get the leverage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cabrillo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sproule's head. Cabrillo throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Cabrillo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Cabrillo not landing any meaningful shots this time. Cabrillo thows a huge punch but Sproule dodges it nicely.

Cabrillo throwing shots but Sproule is blocking nicely. Sproule is not content to let Cabrillo control the position.

Sproule defending well though. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cabrillo not landing any meaningful shots this time. Cabrillo is nestled in close to Sproule, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cabrillo missing with the ground and pound from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cabrillo has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sproule avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Cabrillo pulls Sproule into guard.

Cabrillo keeping moving, preventing Sproule from controlling successfully. Sproule sitting in guard here, content to control. Sproule trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Cabrillo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sproule defends well. Cabrillo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sproule is one step ahead there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cabrillo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sproule can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Cabrillo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Cabrillo has his foot on Sproule's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sproule works his way back into a safe position though. Cabrillo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sproule defends well. Sproule must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Sproule pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cabrillo is keeping the position for now. Cabrillo has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Sproule should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Cabrillo has tightened it up now! Sproule should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Juan Cabrillo really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Hell's Kitchen Lab Corp (159.49 $150) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
