Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rex Garris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garris has chosen Blowin Money Fast by: Rick Ross as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rex Garris! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garris looking to score a takedown here. Mir is defending well but Garris drives through and ends up in Mir's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Garris postures up.
Mir is really struggling to control Garris but he's trying to hold on to the position. Mir has his hands on Garris's head, controlling the position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Garris accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Garris postures up.
We're going to have a standup here because Frank Mir wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Garris tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mir paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mir misses the shot to the body. Mir misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Garris throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mir's waist but Mir gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Garris off to one side. Garris with a lazy takedown attempt and Mir makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Mir fails to land the takedown. Garris throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mir tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Garris is in Mir's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mir looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir wants to stand but Garris is controlling the position. Garris's corner is telling him to maintain position. Garris throwing strikes from guard but Mir blocks nicely. Garris pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mir is keeping the position for now. Garris drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mir looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mir looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mir! Garris tries to bench press Mir off him but Mir keeps the position. Mir wants to control but Garris is keeping him busy. Garris can't do much from the bottom here. Mir decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Mir tries to clinch up. Mir stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mir wants it to stay on the feet. Frank Mir has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rex Garris. Mir closes the distance and pushes Garris back into the cage. Garris fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mir's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Garris fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mir avoids it really well and circles away. Garris closes the distance and clinches. Mir lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Mir has Garris pressed against the cage.
Garris changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mir fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Garris shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mir defends it nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Garris takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Rex Garris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mir tries to clinch up. Mir tries to clinch there but Garris circles away.
Mir closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Mir pulls guard. Mir looking for a sweep. Not yet Mir, not yet. Garris keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mir's head. Mir looking for a sweep. Not yet Mir, not yet. Mir trying to control the position.
Mir seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Frank Mir. Garris circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mir misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Mir misses with a takedown attempt - Garris sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mir circles away from the clinch attempt.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Mir is pressing down on Garris's thigh, looking to free his foot. Garris is holding on for now. Mir is thwarting Garris's attempts to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Mir dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Mir is looking to take a break and control but Garris is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Garris is looking to control Mir's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Garris avoid being mounted? The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Garris might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mir kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Mir controlling the action here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Garris clinches up with Mir and pushes him back against the cage. Garris drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mir pulls his leg out and moves away.
Frank Mir has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rex Garris. No luck with that takedown attempt from Garris. Mir shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Mir is controlling the pace.

Garris is looking to get back to full guard here but Mir has managed to pass to side control instead. You can see the frustration on Garris's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mir decides to stand back up. Mir steps back and let's Garris get back to his feet. Mir defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Garris.

Garris takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Garris trying to control but Mir is working from the bottom. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Mir keeping full guard, as Garris tries to pass. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Garris wants to control from the top but Mir keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Rex Garris was stalling too much, according to the referee. Garris doesn't succeed with the takedown and Mir connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Garris takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Mir tries for a takedown but Garris sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Frank Mir is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Nice takedown defense from Garris. No joy for Mir on that attempt. Garris fails to land the takedown. Frank Mir has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rex Garris. Mir tries a head kick but it misses.

Mir has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Garris clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! A lull in the action here.
Garris manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mir's guard. Nice work there by Garris.
Mir has control of Garris's left arm, preventing Garris from doing any damage. Mir might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Garris has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mir is proving hard to escape from. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Garris trying to control the position from guard on top but Mir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

This has been an exciting period of action! Mir fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Garris is looking to clinch. Garris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mir tries to avoid it but Garris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mir to the ground. Mir escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Garris shoots in and drives through. Mir sprawls well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Garris doesn't succeed with the takedown and Mir counters by moving into the clinch. Rex Garris has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Frank Mir is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mir manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Rex Garris. Well Mir has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
