PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Berrao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Berrao comes to the cage accompanied by Common Knowledge - by Asher Roth. Jones has chosen Angry Johnny as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berrao blocks a leg kick.
Berrao throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Berrao shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Jones eats them both and turns towards Berrao to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Berrao jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Berrao connects with a crisp jab.
Jones uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Berrao.
Berrao stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Berrao fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jones to the ground. Berrao is now in Jones's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Berrao won't allow Jones to sweep him here.

Berrao postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Berrao. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Berrao wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Berrao has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Berrao is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Berrao escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Berrao is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jones is aware though and is defending well.

Berrao has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Jones defend it? Berrao steps over the head and cranks it - Jones is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Berrao!
