Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Artie Lange (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lionel Messi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Messi connects with a high kick.
Lange feints and as Messi raises his hands in defense, Lange changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

That was a close round but I would say that Artie Lange will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Lange tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Messi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Lange has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Lange closes the distance and clinches up with Messi, looking for a takedown. Lange pushes Messi against the cage but Messi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Messi sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

You get the feeling that Lange really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Lange is wriggling around trying to escape.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Messi tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Lange tries to reverse the position but Messi maintains control.
Lange tries to lock up and control but Messi gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Lange bucks Messi off and manages to get back to his feet!
Messi closes the distance and clinches up with Lange, looking for a takedown. Messi pushes Lange against the cage but Lange circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lange looks to score with a jab to the body but Messi is just out of range.
Lange shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Messi but Messi pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Artie Lange. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lange throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Messi's waist but Messi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lange off to one side.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Messi enables Lange to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Messi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lange, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
