PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stinky Bastid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Les Germ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Les Germ told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stinky Bastid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Les Germ!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bastid with a poor takedown

and Germ holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Bastid's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Germ stuffs the takedown.

Germ looking to score a takedown here. Bastid is defending well but Germ drives through and ends up in Bastid's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Germ might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bastid kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Bastid has his foot on Germ's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Germ works his way back into a safe position though.

Germ is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Germ stops Bastid from getting back to his feet.

Germ takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Les Germ hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Germ fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bastid tries to clinch up but Germ circles away and keeps his distance.
Germ tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bastid paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Germ shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bastid defends it nicely.
Stinky Bastid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Germ gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bastid to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Stinky Bastid has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Les Germ.
A nice right hand lands inside from Bastid.

Bastid tightens his grip and picks Germ up, before dumping him to the ground. Germ manages to land in guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Germ throws his legs up looking for a submission but Bastid uses it to pass to side control.

That was a close round but I would say that Stinky Bastid will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Bastid is looking to clinch but Germ is avoiding it.

Germ rushes Bastid and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Germ has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bastid is working away from the top position though.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Germ can do anything to dispel that myth.

Germ misses with a takedown attempt - Bastid sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Bastid escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Germ gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A determined Stinky Bastid didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
