Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chance Taken! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglas Quaid! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quaid tries to clinch up but Taken circles away and keeps his distance. Taken tries to clinch but Quaid moves out of range. Taken ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Quaid moves away. Taken scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Taken darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Taken tries to pass the half guard into mount. Quaid knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Taken throwing shots but Quaid is blocking nicely. Taken content to control rather than advance. Taken throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taken is working for a kimura but Quaid is defending it quite comfortably.
Quaid is pressing down on Taken's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Taken trying to control but Quaid is working from the bottom. Taken pushing down on Quaid's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Taken is keen to just control but Quaid is a slippery customer. Taken is pressing down on Quaid's thigh, looking to free his foot. Quaid is holding on for now. Taken is just content to waste time from the top position. Quaid takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taken with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Taken accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Quaid pulls Taken in to control the position. Taken wants to control from the top but Quaid keeps moving. Taken stands up from Quaid's guard - Taken perhaps looking for a knockout. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Taken is defended easily by Quaid. Taken throws out a loose jab but Quaid uses good head movement to avoid it. Chance Taken seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taken looks to clinch and Quaid counters by clinching up. Quaid has picked Taken up - he's going for a ride! Quaid dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Taken won't allow Quaid to pass to mount. Taken tries to roll over but Quaid keeps him under control. Quaid throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Quaid is keen to just control but Taken is a slippery customer. Quaid misses with a head shot. Taken uses the momentum to regain guard. Quaid is working Taken over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Quaid trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Taken trying to keep a closed guard but Quaid is proving a slippery customer.
Taken looking for a guillotine here but Quaid defends easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Taken working a defensive guard here.
Taken working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Quaid doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Quaid manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Taken controls Quaid momentarily but Quaid frees himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chance Taken dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Quaid clinches with his opponent.
Quaid swings wildly with an uppercut but Taken uses good head movement to avoid it. Taken is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Taken blocks an elbow strike from Quaid.
Quaid escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Quaid stuffs the takedown. Taken wants to clinch. Quaid slips a straight right by Taken. Quaid fails with the takedown. Taken throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taken ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Quaid thows a left - swing and a miss! Taken closes the distance and clinches up with Quaid, looking for a takedown. Taken pushes Quaid against the cage but Quaid circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chance Taken. That's going to take a lot out of him. Taken shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Quaid sprawls well. Quaid wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Taken gets slowly back to his feet. Quaid scores with the left hand. Taken knows he should have avoided that one. Taken looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Taken tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Quaid stuns Taken with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Taken throws a good cross that connects.
Quaid moves into the clinch successfully.
Quaid prevents the takedown attempt.
Quaid tries to throw a body punch but Taken avoids it by throwing Quaid back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taken changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Quaid fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Quaid slips under a jab from Taken. Douglas Quaid seems to be getting the better of the standup. Quaid takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Quaid blocks a head kick by Taken.
Quaid comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Quaid rushes Taken and presses him up against the cage. Quaid goes for a takedown in the clinch but Taken prevents it.
Taken wants to break the clinch but can't.
Quaid pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taken avoids the body shot from Quaid.
Quaid wants to clinch. Quaid avoids the head kick by Taken.
Taken clinches up against the cage. Taken is pressed up against the cage. Quaid has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Taken down to the mat. Taken avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Quaid fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Taken avoids it really well and circles away. Quaid looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Taken tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Quaid manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Taken swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Quaid. A momentary lapse in concentration from Quaid enables Taken to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Quaid manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taken trying to control the position from guard on top but Quaid is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Quaid controls Taken momentarily but Taken frees himself. Taken trying to control but Quaid is working from the bottom. Taken throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Quaid manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Taken is trying desperately to improve position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Douglas Quaid showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Quaid is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Quaid doesn't manage to clinch there - Taken circles away.
Taken throws a combination. Quaid tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Taken uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Quaid has time to react. Taken circles away from the clinch attempt.
Quaid avoids the head kick by Taken.
Taken is trying hard to land a takedown here. Quaid sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Taken throws a lazy right hand but Quaid sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Taken throws a hook but Quaid avoids it easily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Taken fails with an attempt to clinch.
Quaid drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Quaid must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Quaid trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Quaid trying to control the position from guard on top but Taken is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quaid cracks Taken with a solid left hand. Taken trying to keep a closed guard but Quaid is proving a slippery customer.
Taken is pulling down on Quaid's head. It's preventing any offense from Quaid, at least for the moment. Quaid content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Quaid connects with a couple of short punches. Taken bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Quaid's guard. Taken throws an elbow that misses. Quaid uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Taken's guard. Nice move by Quaid! Taken escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Quaid gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Quaid stops Taken from standing up. Taken wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Quaid missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Quaid throws an elbow that misses. Taken uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Quaid's guard. Nice move by Taken! Taken stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Quaid swivels though and keeps the full guard. Taken wants to control from the top but Quaid keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Chance Taken. A head kick from Taken lands but Quaid takes it in his stride. Quaid shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Taken is trying to defend but Quaid finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Taken wants to control but Quaid is keeping busy.
Quaid trying to control the action but Taken is working from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Quaid tries to pass the half guard into mount. Taken knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chance Taken. I think Taken has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
