Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Venturia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Jurgen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Venturia might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jurgen sizes up Venturia with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

It looks like Jesse Venturia has been cut.

Jurgen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Venturia to the ground. Jurgen is now in Venturia's guard.
Venturia is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Venturia will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jurgen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Jurgen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Jurgen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Venturia swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jurgen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A swing and a miss from Venturia.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Jurgen. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

and Venturia counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Jurgen shoots in for a takedown but Venturia shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

It looks like Paul Jurgen has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jurgen is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
A punch lands to the side of Venturia 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Jurgen misses with a hook
and Jurgen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Venturia tries to bum rush Jurgen with a series of wild strikes but Jurgen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Venturia lands an overhand right.
Venturia throws a head kick but Jurgen moves out of range.
Jesse Venturia is winning the standup battle so far.
Venturia throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Jurgen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Venturia napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Jurgen tries to score with some ground and pound. Venturia controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Jurgen looks up at the clock and then as Venturia takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jurgen smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Paul Jurgen has got the better of the ground game so far.
Venturia is pushing Jurgen's head away, looking to escape. Jurgen manages to hold on to the position though.

Jurgen scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Venturia is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Jurgen can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
