The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tranq closes the distance looking to clinch

and Holm counters with a nice double leg into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Holm is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Holm decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tranq, up you get!
Holm avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Holm feints and as Tranq raises his hands in defense, Holm changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tranq is trying to control the position but Holm postures up.
Holm is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Holm has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Holm lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Tranq wants to control but Holm passes easily into half guard.
Tranq tries to kick Holm off but Holm keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Holm is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Tranq has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
