PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Zero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Herod Otto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zero comes to the cage accompanied by José the Bronx Rican - Spittin' Narcicism. Otto is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Anvil of Crom. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Zero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Herod Otto!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Zero is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Zero tries to score a body lock takedown but Otto shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Otto using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Zero has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Otto prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Zero. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zero is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Otto pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Zero is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Otto lands an elbow that stopped Zero in his tracks for a moment.
Otto is pressed up against the cage. Zero has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Otto down to the mat. Otto avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Otto shoots in and bounces Zero off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Otto trying to control but Zero is working from the bottom.
Otto is pushing down on Zero's leg trying to pass to half guard. Zero is fighting to maintain full guard but Otto has managed to sneak the leg through.
Otto performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Otto winds up and cracks Zero with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Zero gets full guard.

Zero has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Otto can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Otto's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Otto cracks Zero with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Otto working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Zero regains half guard.

Zero is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Otto pulls his head out easily.
Otto seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Zero is trying to get back to full guard.
Zero on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Otto connects with a nice short shot to Zero's temple.
Otto wants to control but Zero is keeping him busy.
Otto winds up and cracks Zero with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Otto is nestled in close to Zero, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Zero slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Otto not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Zero working for submissions but it's allowed Otto to get to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Zero is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Otto jumps into side control!
Otto slows the pace down.
Zero is not content to let Otto control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Otto is working Zero over with some ground and pound from side control.
Otto working the head and body with strikes.
Check out the look on Otto's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zero takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Otto lands an elbow.

Zero tries to bench press Otto off him but Otto keeps the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Otto lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Otto cracks Zero with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Zero is trying to get back to half guard.
Otto looks up at the clock and then as Zero takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Otto smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Herod Otto dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Zero misses with a takedown attempt

and Otto counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Otto.


Zero is rocked!

Otto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Zero has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Otto has managed to get both his arms back between Zero's legs - danger averted.

Zero working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Otto doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Otto manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Otto has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Otto lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Otto passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Zero looks to move to half guard but instead Otto has passed into mount! Damn!
Zero is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Otto in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Otto unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Zero wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Otto celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Herod Otto!
