Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jeferson Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Riley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Riley is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeferson Mendes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Riley!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Riley as Mendes shoots in.
Mendes misses with a kick to the body.
Mendes moves in looking to clinch but Riley pushes him off.
Riley looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Riley shoots in for a takedown but Mendes shows good takedown defense.

Riley gets a takedown into half guard.
Riley not doing much here.
Mendes is pressing down on Riley's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Mendes is trying to control the position but Riley postures up.
Riley wants to control from the top but Mendes keeps moving.

Mendes wants to get back to his feet but Riley is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Riley wants to control but Mendes is keeping busy.

Mendes wants to work for an arm triangle but Riley is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Riley can do anything to dispel that myth.
Riley is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Mendes is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Riley has managed to free his arm - good work.
Mendes looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Mendes thows a huge punch but Riley dodges it nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Riley keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Riley is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mendes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mendes's back!

Mendes lands a nice leg kick that just misses Riley's sensitive parts.

Riley throws a low kick but Mendes avoids it.

Riley avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Mendes is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Riley is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Riley has escaped and now he's on top!

Mendes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Riley pulls his head out easily.

Riley winds up and cracks Mendes with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chris Riley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Riley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mendes tries to avoid it but Riley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mendes to the ground. Mendes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jeferson Mendes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Riley takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Mendes tries to clinch but Riley is having none of it.

and Mendes counters with a three punch combo that has Riley backing up. Riley nods at Mendes to acknowledge the strikes.

Riley shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Riley seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Riley feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

I've got Riley winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
